Is it just me or is a DIY Body Scrub just never outdated? There are so many variations and combinations of ingredients you can put together to create that exfoliant love in a jar and this particular one I have in store for you is my personal favorite of the year.
I received this magical creation as a Christmas present from my crafty boyfriend’s mum in Fernmount (near Bellingen), a small local town that holds so much charm and nature, the Coffee Scrub recipe she created using local and organic ingredients was just SO amazing I had to share it in the form of this blog post so I could refer back to this whenever I run out!!
Why I love this Fernmount Body Scrub? It’s made with primarily local Coffee grounds, brown sugar, and sea salt which gives you that exfoliate feature to scrub off those dead skin cells. These dry ingredients help to tackle flaky skin, amazing for the Winter Season coming up!
Coffee, as you may know from the well-known brand like Frank’s Coffee Scrub, uses Coffee because of it’s providing nature for the skin. Stimulates blood flow and promote collagen production. As much as I’d love to have Frank’s Sruub time all the time, my bank account won’t allow that so why not just make your own!! a
You’ll find Almond Oil and a dash of honey in this scrub which is packed with antioxidants and helps to bind the ingredients together to smooth out your grained magical scrub leaving your skin hydrated and smooth like a baby’s bum bum.
I believe everyone should at least try once in their life to make one of their skincare products to try it. There is something about the process of creating what you are absorbing into your skin to fully understand how important it actually is to know what you are putting on yourself every day.
Just like how you wouldn’t add nasties in your DIY Body Scrub, is the same as you shouldn’t buy nasties in your Body Scrub!! Just step as always is just being aware of the harmful ingredients out there and understanding the concept of how products are made which I believe is essential to a healthy lifestyle. Plus it’s so easy to make and you save on resources!! win-win situation.
Alright, now enough of my beauty educational speech, let’s get to the recipe!!
This makes about 1 Mason Jar, lasts about 2-3 months using it 3 times a week//
Ingredients:
2 Cups, Local Coffee Grounds
1 Cup, Brown Sugar
3 Tb, Cacao Powder
2 tb,Cinnamon
2 tb, Honey
Almond Oil (measure by eye)
2-3 drops, Papuoil Essential Oil (choose your scent!)
Instructions:
Add all dry ingredients together, mix coffee grounds, brown sugar, cacao powder, cinna together into a bowl. A spoon does well in smashing out the balls of dry powder as the goal is to have it all be well mixed. Or you can be messy and use your hands!
Add in your Almond Oil first as your wet ingredient to bind together the dry mix. Keep pouring until you have a damp mixture (not dripping wet from oil). Add in a dash of Honey if you so choose if you like your mixture to be a little bit sticky. Then add in your Essential Oil of choice (do your research on this as I’ve read articles on not all essential oils are suitable for your face!)
Special thanks to Janine for sharing this beautiful Body Scrub Recipe, full credits to this loving lady. Hope you and your skin love this Coffee Scrub recipe!!
