Happy Canada 150 Everybody!!! O’ Canada our home and native land!
Today I’m celebrating Canada Day with terra20 with a blog post highlighting products all locally made within Canada to share our love for brands in our home country.
Living in Ottawa, Ontario my whole life, I feel like as a Canadian myself I still haven’t seen as much of Canada as much as I would like to. Canada is a absolutely gorgeous place (as I’ve seen in photo’s!) and I can see why people from all around the world would travel here. Even when I backpack myself I always have a great reputation just flashing my Canadian flag card up in the air. This summer, I’m hoping to do a lot of camping around Ontario to explore some hikes and discover nature views in Canada. This post I’ll be showing you some products perfect for your next Canadian travel adventures – Let’s go explore Canada!
GREEN BEAVER
Sunscreen Lotion SPF40
Green Beaver since 1996 was founded by two young scientists in Ontario that discovered way too many chemicals in children’s products. They decided to quit their jobs in the pharmaceutical industry to pursue creating healthier, natural products that they could use for their own family and to create safer options for other families to have. Green Beaver is purely Canadian made using only Certified Organic Canadian ingredients and is still family owned to this day.
I’ve heard AMAZING things about Green Beaver, especially their sunscreen which is a well- received brand on the Environmental Working Group. Their Natural Mineral Sunscreen Location has SPF 40 with Broad Spectrum UVA/ UVB (very important!) makes for a fundamental sunscreen for outdoor camp adventures and long day hikes. Sweat and Water resistant with no white cast through your application. What’s special about this sunscreen is that it includes Canadian Raspberry Extract which gives it a beautiful herbal scent!
DRUIDE
Citronella Adventure Kit
Druide since 1979 produced their very first products in a small village of Racine, in the Appalachians of Quebec. Based in Canada providing health and beauty products that respects the human body and the earth. Through the inspiration from the Druids (in Celtic times) were the first healers of our world, this company believes in the restorative balance of health in our bodies through natural and fairly produced products for hygiene in beauty! How amazing is this company’s story with so much enriched Canadian history embedded in their mission and values as a beauty company?
The name says it all, of course I would need to pack this Citronella kit with me. Not only is this great for any activity revolving around the wilderness with it’s handy travel pouch and active plant based ingredient Citronella to repel pesky insects, but it’s also great for others that simply love to be outside.. like my mum that loves gardening! This kit includes a Druide Citronella Organic Shampoo/Bodywash, a bar of Druide Citronella outdoor soap, and a Druide Citronella outdoor lotion!
BUCK NAKED SOAP
Energizing Marigold Soap
A made in Canada all natural, vegan soap brand to introduce you to is Buck Naked. How cool is the name of this beauty brand? Not only is their brand name eye catching, just take a look at their soaps!! I instantly fell in love with their handcrafted soap bars so beautifully designed and filled with only clean ingredients. You’ll feel good and energized packing this soap bar with marigold to keep away those annoying moquitos and knowing vegan ingredients are used in this biodegradable soap bar that makes your skin and the planet happy all at once. I choose this particular soap bar (out of the other ridiculously gorgeous scents) because of Marigold which is known as a natural ingredient to repel insects!
CARINA ORGANICS
Pink Grapefruit Shampoo And Body Wash
Dedicated to providing clean alternatives of beauty products to consumers is Carina Organics since 1972, Canadian made organic health and beauty. Using a personal approach by hand selecting and harvesting their ingredients for each and every bottle with love and manufactured by hand in North Shore of Vancouver, BC! It’s amazing to hear Carina Organics retrieves the very ingredients from our land in the Pacific Northwest’s rainforest and local farms with hand picked ingredients used in every product for our hair and skin!
This Pink Grapefruit Shampoo And Body Wash is a two in one combo perfect for traveling with the convenience as a multitasker product. Formulated with certified organic ingredients such as flower and tree extracts to help restore luster and shine in hair. This shampoo is also safe to use on colour-treated hair which is ideal for me and my poor hair that has gone through so many colours. I have to be extra careful with choosing products because of my damaged beached and hi-lighted hair so it’s great to have Carina Organics in the local shelves of terra20! Also needed to add that it smells AMAZING.
GURU APPAREL
Tulsi Pants
Comfy clothes are always ideal for road trips. Right now my current fashion obsession for this summer are wide legged, high waisted pants for everyday wear. I can do everything in these pants and I mean it! My favorite type of clothing? Stylish to be worn in public yet comfy enough to be worn as sleep wear.
Guru Apparel is based out of Oakville, Ontario with retailers such as terra20 that carry’s their exclusive clothing pieces! I’m in love with their style choices on bohemian prints and that their certified fair trade working closely in undeveloped countries to provide ethical work opportunities for people to create these beautiful garments which are upcycled into one-of-a-kind pants and more in Rajasthan, India. Working with a family run business for almost two decades, Guru is certified Fair Trade and values the hard work and dedication from their overseas partner. I think this is such an amazing business story from clothing that makes you feel and look great and I feel like my personal sense of style is able to be expressed from this clothing brand.
ECOJOT
Canada150 Notebook
Jot down all your adventures in Canada with this Environmentally green notebook printed with vegetable based ink (100% post- consumer recycled paper), limited edition for this year! Any little moments of inspiration you wanted to write down, sketches and outlines or doodles, a daily journal to track your day to day thoughts and memories – it can be used for anything you desire to put into it.
I think every adventure needs a traditional pen and paper notebook. There is something special about physically writing down your thoughts, ideas, and inspirations while your out of your element in another country or surrounded by nature and really centred with where you are at that very moment. Instead of taking out your phone and getting distracted (which is bound to happen) bring a notebook with you to your next travel destination. I’ve used one every single time and it will always be one of my top items to recommend on the ultimate packing list!
Proud to be Canadian, Happy Canada Day!
