Kinda annoyed today from hearing some people say some bad things about me, especially when it comes from your cousins you can’t help but be upset about it. But this post isn’t about that. I wanted to divert myself away from all that negativity to something that makes me happy so I’m writing this post on Plan Canada which is a organization you can get involved with giving resources to people in need from developing countries. Sometimes in life we get side tracked with things that we fail to realize how lucky we are in our current state that we shouldn’t even be complaining about like little things such as that boy that doesn’t text you back or that person that doesn’t like you. I much rather invest my time in things that actually mean something to me which is why I decided to write this post.
How did I hear about Plan Canada? Last semester I was taking a course called Non-For-Profit where my prof showed our class a Documentary called Where’s My Goat? There’s a lot of skeptics on donating to organizations that people have because they worry if there donation will actually make a contribution. Well in this video, it showed a man that donated a goat through Plan Canada in which he then traveled across the world to the family that received the goat to see if what this organization actually does what it says it would do. In the video it showed how much a goat can have an impact on an entire family. For me personally, I also had my doubts with donations before hand but after watching this video you can see in the families faces and their words that this is real. Even just writing about it makes me tear up a bit because I’m so lucky to be able to be where I am today and sometimes I get so aggravated by problems that are nothing compared to these incredibly strong people in places that are working everyday just to put food on the table.
This Christmas for secret santa, I asked to donate a chicken through Plan Canada. I can tell you right now that it was the best present I received. I’m writing this post to spread awareness on making a movement towards helping those in need and even if I only enlightened one person to do so, I’d be more than happy! I’m looking to write about more posts like this on my blog because to me, this really adds value to my life and helps me to step away from the materialistic world to keep me humble which is really what I need.
